Choose a die-cast model by its scale, actual measurements and intended use. For the same real vehicle, a 1:24 model is larger than a 1:36 or 1:43 model. The scale helps you compare sizes, but the product’s measured length, width and height tell you whether it will fit your shelf or gift box.
1. Read the scale as a simple ratio
A scale of 1:24 means that one unit of length on the model represents 24 of the same units on the real vehicle. Divide the real vehicle’s length by 24 to estimate the model’s length. Use the same unit on both sides of the calculation.
A smaller number after the colon means a larger model of the same vehicle. This comparison applies to matching vehicles. A model truck and a model city car can have very different lengths even when both boxes say 1:24.
| Scale | Calculation | Approximate model length |
|---|---|---|
| 1:24 | 480 cm ÷ 24 | 20.0 cm |
| 1:36 | 480 cm ÷ 36 | 13.3 cm |
| 1:43 | 480 cm ÷ 43 | 11.2 cm |
| 1:64 | 480 cm ÷ 64 | 7.5 cm |
These calculated sizes are examples, not measurements of any Sharifco product. Always use the dimensions listed for the particular item, or ask us to check them.
2. Match the size to the display space
- One model on a desk: measure the available space first, including room around the model.
- A growing collection: choosing a consistent scale helps keep the vehicles in proportion to one another.
- A display cabinet or gift box: check width and height as well as length. Ask about the packaging size if the model will stay boxed.
For a first look at the range, browse Sharifco’s die-cast model cars. You can also narrow the choice to classic and vintage cars or SUV and 4×4 models.
3. Compare real listings, not just the photographs
The Fiat 500L 1968 model and Ford Mustang GT die-cast toy car are both listed at 1:24. They represent different real cars, so the matching scale does not mean matching model dimensions. Product photos may also use different framing and cannot serve as a size comparison.

4. Check the features separately
Scale describes size, not the included features. Opening doors, pull-back movement, lights, sound, display bases and the balance of metal and plastic vary by model. A larger scale does not guarantee any of those features.
- Check the exact vehicle, colour and variant.
- Read the material and movement details.
- Confirm whether the listing is for one vehicle or a multi-piece set.
- For a child’s gift, check the age marking and instructions on the product packaging.
Quick answers before you choose
Is 1:24 bigger than 1:36?
Yes, for a model of the same real vehicle. A 1:24 model is 1.5 times as long as the corresponding 1:36 model when both accurately follow their stated scales.
Does die-cast mean the whole model is metal?
No. Die-cast vehicles can combine a metal body with plastic details or other materials. For example, the linked Fiat listing specifies an alloy metal body with plastic details.
What if the measurements are missing?
